The governor introduced First Lady Britney to urge state employees and the Frankfort community to sign up for a Team Kentucky blood drive at the Kentucky State Office Building on Tuesday, Aug. 11, citing a national blood crisis. "If they can get just 3 more donors at each of their blood drives this summer, it would end this crisis and stabilize the blood supply," the First Lady said, noting type O donors are especially needed and providing the governor's website for registration.
Dr. Stack then described this month’s focus for the Healthy Kentucky Home campaign on women's health, recommending two servings of fruits or vegetables daily, regular exercise, mental-health resources, and preventive screenings for breast, cervical, colorectal and lung cancer. Dr. Stack referenced the National Maternal Mental Health hotline and the Kentucky Women's Cancer Screening Program as available resources, and provided the hotline number and a QR link for more information.
Officials said the blood drive and public-health resources are part of Team Kentucky’s broader outreach to improve community health and support families.
