HUTTO ISD students win state visual-arts and music honors; one student joins from Poland

The HUTTO ISD Board of Trustees spent part of its June 25 meeting celebrating student achievements in fine arts and music.
Fine-arts staff introduced Katarzyna ("Kate") Bartoszczuk, a student joining the meeting virtually from Poland, whose artwork "Kashmir" earned a Gold Seal at the Texas Art Education Association State Visual Arts Scholastic Event. "I would say it was about a month. I was studying for, like, 40 hours," Kate said of the time spent creating the piece. The district will send Kate a certificate and her original artwork after the state tour and will keep copies on display locally.
The board also recognized a number of music students who advanced at the UIL state solo and ensemble contest and highlighted Luke Hart, who received the state's outstanding performer award — an honor only a tiny fraction of competitors achieve. Trustees presented certificates and a gold medal to Luke and thanked teachers and staff for supporting the fine-arts program.
