Hutto ISD honors state and national CTE and athletics finishers

The Hutto Independent School District recognized students and teams May 28 for top finishes at state and national competitions across career and technical student organizations and athletics.
Andrew Haug, the district’s CTE specialist, introduced student honorees and named multiple state placers including Johnny Gutierrez (SkillsUSA), members of the Discount Toasters VEX robotics team (who advanced to the world championships in St. Louis), and a range of FCCLA, TSA and HOSA winners from the district’s high schools and middle schools. "So my name is Andrew Haug. I'm the CTE specialist for the district," he said as he introduced the students.
Will Compton, director of athletics, highlighted athletic achievements and noted the district’s first UIL state championship in unified basketball and state placers in powerlifting. "This was the first time since 2017 that Hutto has had a boy that placed at the state powerlifting meet," Compton said, adding the district celebrated more than 800 graduates this year.
The board invited participants to a brief reception after the recognitions and took group photos with coaches and sponsors.
