Brecksville-Broadview Heights students, staff hailed for fundraising, robotics and athletics

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Board of Education opened its May 20 meeting by highlighting a string of student accomplishments across academics, athletics and community service.
Lisa, the board member reporting on extracurriculars, told the board that Team 2011 robotics had been named the top robotics program and summer campus provider by Education Insider magazine for 2026 and congratulated the boys tennis team on winning the Suburban League title. She also noted senior Rowan Weber reached 40 home runs and 125 hits this season, calling it “an outstanding career.”
The high school’s Student Visionaries team, participating in Blood Cancer United’s campaign, was recognized after exceeding fundraising goals. Savannah Durdek of Blood Cancer United presented awards and said the team had set and surpassed multiple targets: “They initially set a goal to raise $75,000...they set on the path to raise $150,000 which they did.” Durdek said the team’s campaign earned an impact award and the opportunity to link a campaign name to a research project.
Superintendent Jeff and board members praised students and coaches, and the board voted to recognize the student leaders at the meeting. The acknowledgments aim to showcase student engagement across service, STEM and athletics and to encourage continued community support.
