Calallen ISD selects United Health Care for 2026–27 employee coverage; one board member dissents

Royce Cameron moved and the motion was seconded to approve United Health Care and to delegate authority to the Acting Superintendent or designee to negotiate and execute the contract and return the executed contract to the board for informational purposes. The motion carried with Heather Luckenbach, Michael Hatch, Lori Jo Walker, Royce Cameron, Jerry Batek and Chelsea Schulze voting yes and Edward Wells casting the dissenting vote.
Board materials state the coverage is effective Sept. 1, 2026; the board authorized staff to finalize the agreement. No public testimony was recorded on the item during the meeting.
