Cameron ISD trustees hear superintendent report projecting roughly $1.5 million budget shortfall

Dr. Isaiah Logan, chair, called the Cameron Independent School District Board of Trustees to order at 5 p.m. Aug. 12 at the district administration office in Cameron, Texas. The board heard a superintendent’s report on the district’s revenue and expenditure outlook for the 2024–25 school year and was told the budget could carry a roughly $1.5 million deficit.
The superintendent told trustees the projections "could possibly result in the adoption of a budget with a deficit of approximately 1.5 million dollars," and the administration said it will continue to explore possible adjustments to expenditures to close the gap. No public testimony was offered during the meeting. Trustee James Burks moved to adjourn; Trustee Roy Martinez seconded, and the motion passed 7-0. The board took no formal action to adopt a budget at the workshop.
Board members listed as present in the meeting record were Isaiah Logan, James Burks, Roy Martinez, Annisha Williams (who arrived at 5:04 p.m.), Alan Patterson, Linda Richter and John Anderle. District staff present included Kevin Sprinkles, Mistie Dakroub, Tanya Hoelscher and Missi Giesenschlag. The administration will continue budget work and may return to the board with recommended adjustments or options for addressing the projected shortfall.
