Cameron ISD board adopts 2024 general and debt-service tax rates

The Cameron Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved two tax rates for 2024 at a special meeting on Aug. 26, 2024. Trustee James Burks moved to set the general operating tax rate at $0.66690, seconded by Trustee Roy Martinez; the motion passed 7-0.
Trustee Annisha Williams subsequently moved to approve the debt service tax rate of $0.352100, seconded by Trustee Linda Richter; that motion also passed 7-0. The board held public hearings on the tax rate and the budget before the votes; the transcript records that no members of the public spoke during the hearings. The combined rates set the district’s total 2024 tax rate at the sum of those two components.
