SHAC outlines health events; district will follow State Dyslexia Plan, board told

Dr. Mistie Dakroub told trustees the School Health Advisory Council is planning multiple health-promotion events and reported that dyslexia services now sit within Special Education; the district will follow the State Dyslexia Plan as recommended by the cooperative director.
Dr. Mistie Dakroub presented the School Health Advisory Council report at the Aug. 12 Cameron ISD board meeting, saying the committee is planning several engaging events for the 2024–2025 school year to promote good health across district campuses.
Dr. Dakroub also reported that dyslexia is now considered part of the Special Education Department and that Cameron ISD will follow the State Dyslexia Plan as recommended by the director of the Burleson Milam Special Services Cooperative. Trustees heard this alignment will place dyslexia services under Special Education processes and state guidance.
The board recorded the report and noted that the Special Programs Report will be presented at the September board meeting for additional detail.
