Blythe adopts SB 707 disruption policy to govern remote meeting interruptions
Summary
The City Council adopted a new policy to address telephonic or internet disruptions and to implement SB 707 requirements for two-way remote access beginning July 1, 2026.
City Clerk Mallory Crecelius explained the City must provide two-way audiovisual or telephone access to public participants as of July 1 under SB 707 and recommended a policy addressing procedures for recess, reconvening and removing disruptive remote participants.
Council Member Burton moved to approve the staff recommendation; Vice Mayor Rodriguez seconded and the council adopted Resolution No. 2026-018 by unanimous vote. The policy sets procedures the city will follow to restore service and to limit or remove disruptive remote participants consistent with the Brown Act as amended by SB 707.
