Elementary principal: new phonics curriculum and October events under way

Mrs. Thorn, the elementary principal, told the board that October activities at the elementary campus included a Red Ribbon Rally, a costume contest, a Big Kahuna party bus event and a Scientific Circus for grades 2–5.
She also reported curriculum changes: "Elementary has a new Phonics Curriculum to supplement our HMH Reading Program," Mrs. Thorn said. The report was given during the regular board meeting and no separate board action on the curriculum was recorded in open session.
The principal's update was presented as part of routine school reports; the board did not take separate action on the events or the curriculum during the meeting.
