Los Lunas approves Local Government Road Fund application for priority pavements

The Village of Los Lunas approved Resolution 26-05 on Feb. 26, authorizing staff to submit a Local Government Road Fund (LGRF) request for pavements identified in the village’s pavement condition index. Michael Jaramillo told council the LGRF is a smaller program with awards that often range from about $100,000 to $300,000 and that staff prioritized roads currently in the red zone of the pavement index.
"We have a lot of roads in this Community that would qualify for this. It's a smaller pot of money; it can go anywhere to about $100,000 to maybe $300,000," Jaramillo said. He noted the village has worked for several years on the Artistic Home neighborhood and that this request would address one of the remaining roads in that neighborhood.
Council approved the resolution by a 4-0 vote (moved by Councilor Ortiz, seconded by Councilor Chavez). If awarded, the funding would be used to resurface or replace streets designated by the pavement condition index.
Why it matters: LGRF awards could address neighborhood streets with urgent pavement needs and reduce long‑term maintenance costs for the village.
