Los Lunas council seeks MAP funding for North Los Lentes segment

The Village of Los Lunas voted 4-0 on Feb. 26 to authorize submission of a Municipal Arterial Program (MAP) funding application for a segment of North Los Lentes from Taylor to Trujillo Road (Resolution 26-04). Michael Jaramillo told the council that staff pursue the application annually and that if the village is awarded the project, the council would later approve budget allocations for FY2027.
"This particular funding is what we call MAP funding...This one here is actually for a segment for North Los Lentes. This would be for Taylor to Trujillo Rd.," Jaramillo said while describing the application target and prior work to extend improvements toward Highway 314.
Councilors thanked staff for their work; the motion to approve the resolution was moved by Councilor Romero, seconded by Councilor Runyon, and carried 4-0. Staff said a future budget resolution would follow if funding is awarded.
Why it matters: Approval allows staff to pursue state MAP funding for a local arterial corridor; if funded, improvements could change project timing and require budget amendments.
