Trustee Keegan Neill moved that the district adopt a property tax rate of 1.13210 at the Borger ISD special meeting on Aug. 19, 2024. "Mr. Keegan Neill moved that the property tax rate be increased by the adoption of a tax rate of 1.13210, which is effectively a 7.5% increase in the tax rate," the minutes record. Trustee Gabriela Small seconded the motion.
The minutes add that the rate "will effectively be raised by 7.7% and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $50.00." The document records the proposed rate and the estimated impact on a $100,000 home but does not include a recorded vote tally or the election date tied to final adoption. The board later approved an order calling a voter-approval tax rate election (VATRE) in the same meeting (see separate item).
