The chair opened the meeting by welcoming two newly appointed members to the Planning Commission. Gailene McCaslin introduced herself to the commission: "So my name is Gailene McCaslin. I've been in Gainesville for probably about 24 years by way of the University of Florida." She said she and her family live in south Gainesville and noted she helped launch the county’s Eastside Urgent Care Center as a career highlight.
Samuel Mutch also introduced himself, saying, "I am a planner and an attorney, and I've been involved with local government here for a long time." Mutch said he and his wife have lived in the community for decades and that he looks forward to contributing to commission work. Commissioners and staff welcomed both new members.
