DRC approves Botana Woods three‑lot subdivision with tree preservation requirements

Alachua County’s Development Review Committee voted Aug. 15 to approve the final development plan and combined preliminary plat for Botana Woods, a rural subdivision slightly over 16 acres that would be divided into three lots.
Leslie McClendon of Growth Management described the project as a three‑lot rural unpaved subdivision where open space is not required but a minimum 20% tree canopy preservation must be provided; the plan shows tree canopy retention easements and notes that building permits and large tree removals will require pre-application screening and permits. "So, again, they're wanting to do 3 lots," McClendon said while explaining the plat and shared driveway easement and tree preservation measures.
Staff recommended approval with conditions and that the DRC recommend the plat to the Board of County Commissioners. Applicant representative Logan Peters said he had no formal presentation and was available for questions. A committee member moved to approve the preliminary and final development plan and to recommend the plat to the Board; the motion passed.
