Board approves slate of administrator hires for 2026–27 school year

The Big Spring Independent School District board approved a list of recommended administrative hires for the 2026–27 school year, covering principals, assistant principals, directors and other leadership roles. The named recommended hires included Holly Barfield (Principal, DAEP), Brad Froman (Principal, Big Spring Junior High School), Carman Wommack (Principal, Moss Elementary School) and others listed to fill campus and central-office roles. Bert Otto moved to approve the recommendations and Julie Harris seconded; the motion carried 5-0.
In the same agenda sequence the board voted to approve contract extensions through the 2027–28 school year for selected employees, notably Susan Bryan (Chief Financial Officer), Melissa Tarbet (Director of Business Services), Dana Scott (Assistant Superintendent of Academics and Assessment) and others. That motion carried 5-0. The board’s actions authorize administrators’ employment subject to assignment and the usual contract processes.
