Canutillo ISD trustees voted Sept. 10 to authorize administration to proceed with contract negotiations with six architectural firms recommended for Award of RFQ 2025-01B, the district said in its special board meeting minutes.
Administration recommended DLR Group Inc. of Texas; Pfluger Architects Inc.; MNK Architects Inc.; Mijares-Mora Architects Inc.; VLK Architects LLC; and GA Architecture Inc. for the Canutillo ISD 2024 referendum projects, with any final contracts contingent on review by the district’s legal counsel and formal approval at a future board meeting. "Mrs. Mendoza motioned to approve as recommended by administration, Second by Mrs. Trout," the minutes record.
Trustee questions during the discussion focused on local presence: Mrs. Barnes asked what percentage of the recommended firms have an El Paso presence, and Mr. Ernesto Ortiz noted that DLR and VLK are El Paso based and that all listed companies maintain an El Paso office. The board approved the recommendation by voice vote.
The administration indicated that negotiated contracts will be brought back to the board for final approval after legal review and completion of contract terms. The board did not specify dollar amounts or contract lengths in the minutes.
