The Canton ISD Board of Trustees on Aug. 19 approved the district's 2024-25 budget and adopted a tax rate to fund it. Clay Nicklas moved to adopt the budget and Dr. Leslea Evens seconded; the motion carried 5-0.
The adopted budget sets the General Fund at $22,258,854, Food Service at $1,220,790 and Debt Service at $5,470,000. The board also approved a tax rate of $1.0979 per $100 of taxable value, composed of $0.6669 for Maintenance & Operations (M&O) and $0.431 for Interest & Sinking (I&S). The motion to set the tax rate was moved by Dr. Leslea Evens and seconded by Matt Dunn and passed 5-0.
Board members did not amend the published figures during the meeting; the motions were recorded in the official minutes as presented. The budget and tax-rate approvals allow the district to proceed with planned operations and debt service funding for the coming school year.
