Canton ISD schedules district-wide safety audit, announces facility upgrades

District staff told the Board that Canton ISD will conduct its comprehensive safety and security audit April 27–30, 2026, in compliance with Texas Education Code §37.108(b), which requires a safety audit at least once every three years. The district noted the 2023–2026 audit cycle concludes August 31, 2026, and that results will be reported to the Board and the Texas School Safety Center.
Trustees also received facilities updates: Quality Hardwood will complete waxing of gymnasium floors the week of June 29 through July 4, 2026; Norcostco will finish CHS auditorium system upgrades by the end of May 2026; Symmetry will complete athletic-field lighting improvements between May 29 and June 10, 2026, at no cost to the district. The items presented were informational; no separate votes were required beyond later consented routine items.
