Canton ISD honors students and staff, FFA raises more than $500,600 at county sale

The Canton ISD Board of Trustees on April 20 recognized teachers, students and campus employees across district campuses and heard competition results and scholarship awards.
The Masonic Lodge presented the Lamar Award of Excellence to CES teacher Lyndi Ordieres and CJH teacher Jamie Nicks. Campus Employees of the Month were announced: Tara Berry (Elementary), Charlene Fowler (Intermediate), Karen Robinson (Junior High) and Anna Coppedge (High School). Students Ryan Thelen and Hanna Clayton qualified for the 2026 National Speech & Debate Tournament with a Duo Interpretation performance. Superintendent Dr. Brian Nichols reported multiple athletics and UIL qualifiers, and district staff noted scholarship recipients including Gabe Beverly, Natalie Garcia and Dylann Hillhouse. Board members heard that 29 Canton FFA members participated in the Sale of Champions and that the live auction raised more than $500,600 before add-ons.
