Burleson ISD honors state‑ and national‑level student achievements and CTE successes

Board members used part of the April 13 meeting to recognize student and program achievements across the district. Dr. Mikala Hill invited Burleson High School Cheer Coach Victoria Butler to recognize the varsity cheer squad for placing 1st at the UIL Spirit State Championship and 3rd at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in large coed game day.
Centennial High School teacher Charlie Cruz recognized UIL Congressional Debate participant Preston Hamilton for advancing to the final round, and Hudson Brackeen and Katelyn Wright for placing 2nd and earning Outstanding Delegate awards at Model United Nations. McKenzie Allen, the Burleson High School agriculture teacher, celebrated Laney Holt for winning Reserve Champion Hereford Steer at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo; Randi Woolsey, Director of CTE, thanked the Holt family for their support of the program.
Separately, Dr. Jimerson reported that the CTE program performed well at the SkillsUSA competition and noted upcoming baseball, softball and track events. Trustees offered brief congratulatory remarks, including a recognition from Ryan Richardson of the Centennial High School soccer team’s state semifinal appearance.
