Resident urges River Ridge board to study Lake 8 flooding after foundation damage reported

During public comment, resident Rich Batterberry reported that Oak Run neighbors were impressed with the work completed at Seaside 1 and Seaside 2 and asked the River Ridge board to consider similar work near Lake 8 because rainwater pools and takes a long time to recede—raising concerns that water is getting under home foundations. Batterberry said one resident had incurred significant costs trying to mitigate water coming up through a floor.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs reviewed the scope of work performed at Seaside and said the Lake 8 issues could likely be addressed with similar regrading and planting work. Chair Bob Schultz told the speaker the matter would be considered during the Fiscal Year 2025/2026 budget process and referred follow-up to staff and the engineer.
