Aquilla ISD adopts student handbook changes and bans non-tobacco nicotine products

District administrators presented proposed updates to the student handbook and the Student Code of Conduct at the Aug. 26 meeting. Keith Coffey outlined handbook changes including junior high Yonder pouches for cell phones, capping transcript grades over 100 at 100, a letter jacket policy and rules addressing unruly fans. Separately, the Student Code of Conduct was revised to include a prohibition on non-tobacco nicotine products.
Board members voted to adopt the code of conduct (motion by Will Pinner, second by David Snipes) and approved the handbook changes under the relevant agenda items. The minutes record unanimous approval for the code of conduct; handbook updates were presented for board consideration and reflected in subsequent motions approving district policies and goals.
