Coach introduces CHS tennis team; three students qualify for National Merit recognition

Center ISD recognized the 2025–26 CHS varsity tennis team (1st in district, 13–5) and announced three students qualified for the College Board National Merit scholarship; seniors Hope Nehring and Angie Rojas were named as All-State Academic nominees.
Coach Leon Dykes introduced the Center High School varsity tennis team and noted the team "finished 1st in District play and 13-5 as a team overall and [is] gearing up for spring tennis." Dykes also introduced Assistant Coach Lori Cooper and highlighted seniors Hope Nehring and Angie Rojas as All-State Academic nominees, pending official confirmation.
The board also heard that three CHS students scored high enough to qualify for the College Board National Merit Scholarship; Serica Wilkins told the board this "is a really big deal and a great opportunity for these students." Audrey Adams and Jack Wagner were present for the recognition; a third qualifier, Mikayla Anderson, was unable to attend due to work. No board action was required for the recognitions.
