Committee approves multiple behavioral-health hires and reclassifications at Human Services

Columbia County Human Services requested and the committee approved multiple personnel actions May 19 to support growing adult care coordination caseloads.
Human Services Director Al Massey said the adult care coordination program "currently serve[s] nearly 400 individuals" and asked for approval to create a behavioral health care coordinator assistant (lower-cost title that still generates reimbursement). "And the expense is offset by revenue," Massey said, adding he did not expect difficulty recruiting the candidate.
Earlier in the meeting the committee also approved filling a vacant intake/account clerk position and backfilling a senior behavioral health care coordinator created by a promotion. Members described the changes as part of an efficiency and retention strategy; the record shows voice votes carried the personnel resolutions.
