Brock ISD spotlights student programs: gardening, CTE, theatre, robotics and athletics

The Brock ISD Board heard a multi-campus spotlight on April 13 highlighting extracurricular and career-focused programs across the district. Ranae Lane and teacher Becky Cave described the Brock Intermediate School Gardening Club, noting a Brock Education Foundation grant, support from Reeder Construction and NHS students, about 50 student participants and eight garden beds.
Junior-high and high-school staff presented CTE programs including Principles of Science, Audio Visual and Digital Media, agriculture and wildlife/ecology courses, Introduction to STEM, cybersecurity and applied engineering coursework; instructors noted First Lego League regional advancement and awards. Eric Sams introduced theatre teacher Angela Powell, who reported improved UIL placement and Bi-District advancement for the high school One Act Play. Eddy Finegan summarized a three-year-old robotics program that won the Aledo League, advanced to regionals and placed third at the UIL Robotics state competition for 4A schools. Coaches and athletic staff recognized qualifiers and team achievements across wrestling, powerlifting and basketball; the girls basketball team reached the state semifinals with 31 wins.
Principals announced campus Teachers of the Year: Jessica Leach (Brock Learning Academy/Elementary), Lori Davis (Brock Intermediate), Jennifer Doyle (Brock Junior High School) and Bernie Flanagan (Brock High School). Presenters thanked the community for support and highlighted student learning and team-building outcomes.
