Board approves contract for Sabrina Smith as Mesquite ISD chief communications officer

The board approved an administrative term contract to appoint Sabrina Smith as Mesquite ISD’s Chief Communications Officer; the motion to approve the contract was made (recorded as by Mr. Everett) and seconded by Ms. Collier, and it passed by voice vote. Immediately after the contract approval Dr. Rivera introduced Ms. Smith and read a summary of her experience in public education and communications.

Sabrina Smith addressed the board and audience, thanking the district for the opportunity and describing her priorities to "shine a light on the excellence of our programs, our campuses, our staff, our leaders, our educators, and most importantly, our young people in Mesquite ISD." Trustees congratulated her and the board recessed for a break after the recognition. The personnel action and her remarks were part of the posted personnel agenda item and the board recorded no dissent on the contract approval.
