Center ISD superintendent reports attendance short of goal and rising substitute and overtime costs

Superintendent Jake Henson told trustees the district’s attendance for the first six weeks of the school year was 95.59% and for the second six weeks was 95.8%, falling short of the district goal of 96%. "Attendance the first six weeks of school was 95.59% and the second six weeks was 95.8%," the minutes state.
Henson also reported that Center ISD had 2,254 students enrolled (a decline of 14 students attributed in the minutes to 12 students graduating from RRA), used 288 substitute-days in October at an approximate cost of $18,400, and had spent 22% of its overtime budget with more than $9,000 paid in the previous month. Henson said he would meet with directors to develop a plan to curb overtime costs.
