Public works briefs: bridge permits, Mill Hill reopened and 11 Warren Street move delayed by fiber

Engineering staff updated supervisors on multiple capital projects and facility moves.
County Route 7 permit materials were submitted to the Army Corps and state DOT, and staff set a public hearing for June 27 to begin right-of-way acquisition and outreach to roughly 16 impacted property owners. The engineer said the team hopes to use existing abutments and replace the superstructure, but Army Corps or DOT comments could require changes.
"We anticipate utilizing the existing abutments and just replacing the superstructure," the engineering presenter said, but noted final design work and federal reviews will determine the construction schedule. Mill Hill bridge work finished May 8 and is open without restrictions, staff reported. Rossmere Roadbridge has been reviewed by SHPO and forwarded to the Federal Highway Administration for further comment.
On county facilities, finishes and furniture deliveries for 11 Warren Street are near completion but fiber/internet delays are causing uncertainty about when departments such as probation, public defenders and board of elections can move in. Staff proposed an open house for supervisors to tour the site before moves begin.
Why it matters: Bridge and road projects require federal and state approvals and may involve right-of-way acquisitions affecting homeowners; facility moves affect multiple county departments and public services.
What's next: Engineering will continue federal and state coordination, hold the June 27 public hearing for CR7 right-of-way work, and notify supervisors about building-move timing once fiber is installed.
