Real Property staff told supervisors they need authorization to refill a primary tax-service aide position after a recent candidate accepted a higher-paying state role. The staff member said interviews have been completed and an anticipated start date for the selected candidate is June 15.
"Interviews have been conducted... I believe I have a candidate selected and the anticipated start date would be June 15," the real-property presenter said. The board agreed staff should forward the equalization-rate LOAs to supervisors and post updates to the county site.
On reassessment, staff reported completed contracts with Chatham and Keenan and ongoing work with Gallatin. Inventory notices will go out in mid-July, allowing contractors time to prepare valuation files; files are expected back for assessor review by January.
Staff also described a recent platform change: the SDG parcel site was retired unexpectedly and a pro site was launched. "It was done abruptly, before we were anticipating it being done," the presenter said. The department is coordinating with planning and Esri to ensure parcel links, and plans quarterly shape-file updates on the county site to keep parcel lines more current.
Why it matters: Filling the vacated position and keeping parcel data current affect assessments, tax bills and permitting for residents and other county departments.
What's next: Supervisors asked staff to circulate LOAs and post GIS updates; staff will follow up on candidate appointment paperwork and onboarding.
