The Chapel Hill ISD Board approved an additional $14,069 for Phase 1 of a district-wide rekeying project, increasing Phase 1 costs to $219,969. Superintendent Lamond Dean told the board the original Phase 1 cost was $205,900 and additional door replacements were identified during implementation.
The motion was made by David Acker and seconded by Fred Elder Jr.; the item passed with five yea votes and two absences. District officials described the rekeying work as intended to enhance campus security and streamline key management across facilities.
