The Chapel Hill ISD board unanimously approved library book orders for Jackson Elementary and Kissam Intermediate on Oct. 20. Josh Tremont, Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, said the proposed lists were reviewed and approved by the School Library Advisory Council (SLAC) to ensure compliance with Senate Bill 13 while maintaining student access to age-appropriate resources.
Tremont emphasized that board approval is required under current state rules and that the district intends to balance compliance with preserving access to high-quality materials for students. The motion to approve the book orders passed 6–0 with one trustee absent.
