Workforce Development to rent Board of Elections front space downtown for $1,600 monthly

Ed (speaker 9) told supervisors the Workforce Development Board wants to relocate downtown from the college and proposed renting the front section of the Board of Elections office. "So we're gonna charge them $1,600 a month, to rent the board of election space," he said, noting the rate covers the front area only and excludes back-room spaces.
Staff explained the monthly rate came from an annual space-cost analysis (cost per square foot averaged over the last three years) and said the rent will provide revenue replacement for the county. The board moved and approved the rental arrangement by voice vote. Staff said the arrangement would improve client access because many Workforce Development clients use the downtown bus line, reducing transportation barriers to services.
