Superintendent outlines facilities work, Gateway building sale consideration and bond timeline

Superintendent Dykes updated the Childress ISD board on facilities and planning at the May 11 meeting. He said Parkhill's facilities assessment is about 80% complete and will be presented to the Citizens' Advisory Committee (CAC) on May 26; the CAC will make a recommendation to the board in July and, if a bond is recommended, the board would consider bond action in August. Dykes also noted the district is discussing the possible sale of the Gateway building to the City of Childress.
Dykes provided project-level details: the ag facility project is progressing and the pad construction and testing are being handled by TARA of Lubbock. He announced public tours of the junior high campus for June 2 and noted remaining CAC meeting dates of May 26, June 9, and June 16. He also reminded the board the TASA/TASB Convention will be Oct. 8–11, 2026.
