Fabens ISD honors teacher award winner, bus driver and communications staff

Fabens ISD recognized several staff accomplishments April 15. Third-grade teacher Martha Perez received the 2026 UTEP College of Education Evelyn Schwartz Endowed Award and a $1,000 prize; the board noted the award ceremony took place March 26 at the Paso del Norte Hotel. District bus driver Maria “Norma” Franco was honored as the Property Casualty Alliance of Texas (PACT) 2026 District Bus Driver of the Year and received tokens of appreciation from the organization.
Assistant Superintendent Manuel Aldaco highlighted that pictures submitted by Sofia Maciel earned TSPRA Star Awards in multiple categories (gold, silver, bronze). The minutes also observed April as Assistant Principal Recognition Month; principals spoke for their respective assistant principals and Corina Ruiz extended appreciation for Marlene Bullard in absentia.
