Fabens High School band earns regional recognition; students advance to area and state contests

The Fabens High School Band was recognized April 15 for a strong competitive season: the band placed third at Socorro ISD March Fest, earned Division I Sweepstakes at the UIL marching competition and advanced to Area. Drum Major Ramón Longoria was cited as Outstanding Drum Major, and nine students were selected to the Association of Texas Small School Bands All-Region Band and advanced to Area auditions.
The board noted that 20 students qualified for the UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest, one of the district’s largest groups since 2017. Student Azul Retamoza qualified for the Texas 4A All-State Symphonic Band for the second consecutive year and was invited to perform with the El Paso Wind Symphony.
