Fabens ISD board approves consent agenda; TEKS certification updated after presentation

Trustees approved minutes, financial reports and other consent items, and after a brief presentation by the assistant superintendent they approved the updated TEKS Certification materials; all motions passed 5–0.
The Fabens ISD Board approved the consent agenda April 15, including minutes of previous meetings, monthly financial reports, budget amendments, federal expenditures, March purchase orders and the March 2026 district attendance report. Trustees Angel Ornelas and Julieta Sepulveda Ramirez moved approval of items 5A, 5B and 5D; the motion carried 5–0 (Flores, Estrada, Ornelas, Sepulveda Ramirez, Spence).
Item 5.C, the 2026–2027 TEKS Certification, was pulled for clarification. Assistant Superintendent Manuel Aldaco provided additional information on Highly Qualified Materials, transition materials at Fabens Elementary School, and upgrades planned at other campuses for 2026–2027. Following that presentation, Greg Spence motioned and Orlando Flores seconded approval of the updated TEKS Certification materials; that motion also passed 5–0.
