Board hears Roadmap 2030 update as staff prepares phases 3–4

Decatur Public Schools staff updated the Board of Education on the Roadmap 2030 strategic-planning effort, saying the district is moving from earlier planning phases into implementation work that will include measurable performance metrics and community engagement. Ashley Granett, one of the staff leads, told the board that "Phases 1 and 2 that you approved consists of the plan on the page, the SWOT analysis, the scorecard, and, feedback on high leverage strategies," and that staff are now preparing phases 3 and 4.
Granett said staff have been orienting the new team and will focus in phase 3 on building a balanced scorecard that backfills historical trend data and reports current performance using red/yellow/green indicators. She described ongoing work with cabinet members and building leaders and pledged regular updates: "You will never get more than, at least 2 board meetings away from the next update," Granett said.
District leaders said community engagement will continue to inform any recommendations returned to the board. Dr. Jay Marino, who is co-leading the facilities-related portions of the Roadmap work, told the board the process will include test-fitting programmatic needs into existing buildings and reconvening the roadmap committee as the team moves into long-range planning.
