It condemns data center construction itself. That's the wrong target," he said. A resolutions-committee representative urged delegates to consider who technology serves and argued the measure fills gaps left by state task forces on AI. Other speakers warned against blanket opposition to data centers because they can bring jobs and research benefits.
On balance, delegates upheld the committee's do-pass recommendation. The final language emphasizes regulation, community benefit agreements, environmental and labor protections, and AI literacy for the public and policymakers.
