When asked about the potential impact of initiatives on the November ballot, the DNC vice chair said the millionaires tax remains popular among voters she's heard from across Washington. "For years and years and years, the talking point was... can you believe that Washington state has the most regressive tax system in the country?" she said, adding that supporters view the tax as a way to add revenue without targeting those earning less than $1,000,000.
She also said the party is coordinating messaging against initiatives she described as anti-LGBT or anti-trans, describing a "vote no" campaign and bundling candidates and initiatives on the party's slate cards so voters see both at once. "We're really messaging on a vote no, you know, on all of them and really making sure that they're sort of bundled together," she said.
The vice chair cautioned that the initiatives and how they play with voters will shape turnout and called the convention an opportunity for delegates to take the grassroots pulse before finalizing advocacy priorities.
