Brock ISD trustees were recognized Jan. 12 for School Board Appreciation Month as campus leaders presented tokens of appreciation and updates on student activities. Superintendent Dr. Shannon Luis thanked the board and district staff for their work that supports extracurricular programming and engagement across campuses.
Coach Blankenship described Brock Elementary’s Turkey Trot and mock-Olympics activities and students who placed received certificates. Brock Intermediate’s Kindness Crew, led by Ms. Coleman and announced by Ms. Lane, collected "multiple truckloads" of canned goods in a drive for the community. BJHS Principal J.W. Shaw introduced Dr. Christina Blasingame to report that the junior high Academic UIL team finished second at the district level. At the high school, Principal Eric Sams introduced sponsor Jennifer Youngblood, who outlined Student Council events and described the PALS mentorship program pairing high school students with younger campuses.
The superintendent also used the meeting to invite the public to a Community Partnership Meeting scheduled Thursday at 8:00 AM in the Brock Learning Academy cafeteria to discuss improved parent and community engagement. The board heard no public comments during the assigned period and approved the consent agenda without objection.
