Flatonia ISD trustees on Feb. 12 approved a resolution to compensate employees for the Jan. 26 bad-weather closure so staff would not be required to make up that day. Superintendent Chris Sodek explained the closure was caused by a severe ice storm that made streets unsafe and said the resolution "would allow teachers to be compensated for the bad weather closure and not have to make-up a day."
The board voted 5–0 to adopt the resolution, following a motion by Blanca Villanueva and a second from Christina Manzano. Administration said similar resolutions have been passed in the past after hazardous-weather closures.
