City Manager says drainage study finds no significant impact from recent Flatonia ISD projects

Ray Miller, Flatonia City Manager, presented a drainage study to trustees on Dec. 8 after receiving resident complaints about runoff near properties adjoining district land.
Miller explained the study used 2014 as a baseline to model changes from subsequent facilities and upgrades. "The study showed there has been no significant impact by the school projects," he said, and added that the City Council is discussing options to alleviate drainage issues throughout the area. The study described pervious and impervious surfaces and modeled current versus pre-existing conditions to assess impacts.
Board members asked clarifying questions about what the study covered; Miller said the city included recent Flatonia ISD projects when building the model. No board action was taken at the meeting; the City Council will consider next steps on municipal drainage options.
