Board approves GMP for administration building; construction team says subcontractor bids delayed but sufficient to proceed

The Flatonia ISD Board approved a Guaranteed Maximum Price proposal for the 2025 administration building and authorized the board president to sign the GMP amendment after review by the district attorney and architect.
Wade Zimmer and Zach Mikulenka of Don Mikulenka Custom Builders presented a construction update, saying the GMP was not yet finalized because of late subcontractor bids but that they believed there were sufficient bids to cover the project's scope. Mikulenka added that some companies declined to bid because they lacked capacity to do so. Blanca Villanueva moved to approve the GMP proposal and to authorize the Board President to sign the finalized amendment; Christina Manmano seconded and the motion passed 7–0.
The board also authorized a budget amendment to cover the district's current balance and any additional amounts the administration building project might incur. The motion to amend the budget for the SZS 2025 Administration Building project passed 7–0.
