Organizers of Riverfest told the Caddo Parish Commission they plan a two-day fitness and wellness festival at the riverfront on Sept. 25–26 and requested partnership and promotional support.
Shannon Pillow, who co-founded the program, described Riverfest as a community-driven event combining youth development, senior programming and corporate wellness retreats. Pillow said last year’s budget "was, like, 21,000." He said he is drawing on personal resources and local sponsors and asked for help with promotion and connections to schools and city partners.
Commissioners encouraged Riverfest organizers to contact Caddo Public Schools (superintendent Keith Burton) and provided procedural guidance for applying for parish support and grant funding. Commissioner Stefan Jones asked for a flyer and contact details nearer the event so commissioners and staff can help spread the word.
What happens next: organizers will follow up with the commission clerk and staff to pursue any appropriations or partnership steps and to distribute event materials for outreach.
