Trustees reviewed a proposed revision to board operating procedures that will change how community members sign up to speak during the public comment portion. Starting in November, staff said citizens will use an online registration form on the board of trustees webpage; registration will open 72 hours before the meeting and close at noon the day of the meeting. The change replaces the prior practice of in-person signups before the meeting.
Staff clarified the change is an administrative revision to operating procedures and does not require board action. Trustees asked how the change will be publicized; staff said the district will notify parents and community members via ParentSquare, website notices and other communications to ensure transparency. The total public comment time remains capped at 30 minutes with an individual speaker limit of five minutes (or divided when multiple speakers share time).
