The Fredericksburg Independent School District Board of Trustees voted Sept. 9 to authorize certain employees and personnel to possess specified firearms on district property under Penal Code 46.03(a)(1). The action followed closed-session discussions of personnel and security matters under Texas Government Code Chapter 551.
The board reconvened in open session at 7:47 p.m. and approved the authorization on a motion by Matt Seidenberger, seconded by Keri Hensley. The motion passed unanimously — Yea: 7, Against: 0. Superintendent Joe Rodriguez, Ed.D., had presented the matter for discussion during the closed session that began at 6:46 p.m. (personnel and security matters cited as Section 551.074 and 551.089).
