FSHISD to host 2026 ESY program for Military School Districts’ Special Education Cooperative

Director Dr. Saleha Sultan presented the 2025–2026 Extended School Year (ESY) program plan noting that Fort Sam Houston ISD will house ESY for students recommended by ARD committees from Fort Sam Houston, Lackland, and Randolph Field school districts. The ESY schedule is four weeks (June 15–July 16 with a break June 29–July 3), student hours Monday–Thursday 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., staff hours 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., and program elements include small-group academic instruction, PE/Motor lab, technology support, and a possible Math Boot Camp.
The memo attached to the minutes described staff roles (two administrators/supervisors, one RN, plus teachers and paraprofessionals as needed based on qualifying students). ESY eligibility remains determined by each student’s ARD committee and is provided only when data show ESY is needed to prevent significant regression.
