Board approves staff development minutes waiver and 2026–27 school calendar

Fort Sam Houston ISD’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved two operational items on Feb. 18: the 2026–2027 Application for Staff Development Minutes Waiver and the proposed 2026–2027 district calendar.
Teaching and Learning Coordinator Lori Fuller explained the waiver allows the district to use up to 2,100 minutes of staff development time—subject to statutory limits and district operational minutes—in place of student instructional minutes in order to provide professional learning intended to improve student performance. The Board voted to approve the waiver on the superintendent’s recommendation.
The Board also unanimously approved the Proposed FSHISD Calendar for the 2026–2027 school year as submitted. Both items were described in the meeting packet and are recorded in the minutes as unanimously approved.
