The Fort Sam Houston ISD Board of Trustees met in closed session on Feb. 18 under Texas Government Code Sections 551.071 and 551.074 to consider personnel matters and attorney consultation about a proposed outside‑services arrangement. After reconvening in open session, the board unanimously approved contract renewals for district professional and administrative personnel that were discussed in closed session.
The closed-session personnel lists included recommended hires and personnel actions (publicly recorded in the minutes): hiring Jacob Garcia as a part-time ARD facilitator at Fort Sam Houston Elementary effective Jan. 27, 2026; Floyd Grayson as a transportation driver effective Jan. 21, 2026; and others noted in the personnel attachment. Termination of Luke Wentz (Maintenance Yard Crew) effective Feb. 2, 2026 and reassignment of James Adams from elementary paraeducator to middle/high school special education teacher effective Jan. 26, 2026 were recorded in the closed-session personnel list. After reconvening, the board approved recommended contract renewals as discussed in closed session.
Separately, the board considered a written contract authorizing Julie Novak to provide outside services to the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) and approved the arrangement unanimously, stating the arrangement did not present a conflict of interest and noting the services would be performed on district time for the benefit of Fort Sam Houston ISD. The motion to approve that contract was made by Board Member Willie White and seconded by Dr. LaToya Sizer.
The minutes record the closed-session topics and the subsequent open-session approvals. The board took no separate public action on the personnel-investigation update at this meeting.
